"Each year brings the retirement of at least one fondly remembered favourite. This past year was no different. Of all the series to disappear into rerun heaven over the past 12 months, perhaps none will be as fondly remembered, or was more influential in its time, than House, M.D.

Jennifer Morrison, who played Dr. Allison Cameron for six of House’s eight seasons, thought the final note, in which Hugh Laurie’s irascible Gregory House faked his own death — even going so far as to switch his own dental records — so he would be left alone, was pitch perfect.

“I thought it was a great ending,” Morrison said in a private interview on the Vancouver set of Once Upon a Time, in which she plays Emma Swan.

“I thought it was an interesting way for (House) to win his freedom. It was the culmination of eight years of him working, and what it meant to be free from that. The fact that he chose a friendship over his work was such a big deal for him as a person, because his work was all he ever felt safe doing. It was such a fresh and unexpected way to end it. For sure. Because if he had died, and actually died, then there would’ve been no room for his growth as a character. The show was always about growth.”

Morrison has fond memories of her time on House, and she thought the ending played to London, Ont., series-creator David Shore’s penchant for black humour and twisty surprises. The House finale was pure House, she said, and pure Hugh Laurie, thanks to Shore.

“David was always true to himself,” Morrison said. “He never wrote to satisfy other people’s ideas of how things should be. He wrote what he thought was authentic for the characters. Always. David’s an extraordinary writer, and I’m sure he put a tremendous amount of thought into the right way for (House) to have that moment of epiphany. The show’s no longer House if House isn’t House. You can’t have him suddenly evolve into this loving, warm person who’s great in relationships.

“It was eight years of these tiny little bits of watching him grow incrementally. The You can’t have House not be House. There wouldn’t be a show. So how do you end it in such a way that you maintain the integrity of who he was for eight years? I think that David walked that line perfectly.”

TV procedurals rule the world.

House was a procedural, in a sense, and it enjoyed a number of seasons as the world’s single most-watched TV series. ..."

I’ve seen and like the pilot of Chicago Fire, It’s a pretty decent fire-fighter show. Nothing extraordinary but fun to watch. I ‘m happy for Jesse Spencer that he got a role there and hope that it will stay on air for a while.

Sometimes I’ve a hard time understanding what Jesse Spencer aka Matthew Casey says. But that’s nothing new for me. As I’ve started watching House MD in its American original language (have watched it in its German dubbed version first), Chase was the one with who I had the most difficulties to understand what he said. I could be wrong but for me it isn’t that he uses a different accent, it’s more that he seems to mumble sometimes.

It was nice to see Monica Raymund on screen again. I loved her on “Lie To Me” and on “The Good Wife”.

And I like the fact that its filming location is Chicago. This city has some great architecture and it reminds me of “ER”. I’ve watched the entire show last year with back to back episodes.

The ratings are good. Especially if you take into consideration that the pilot episode was available to watch over a week earlier on the NBC website and a few days later on other Internet places, too.

Several people on my friends list have done this and since the human being is a gregarious animal I am doing it too!

It was really hard to choose my top 5 to each topic. Would have liked it to enhance it to the top 10 but that would have been cheating.

Dear UK Flisters,

I know I'm preaching to the choir with you guys when it comes to LGBT equality, but believing something is fair and actually getting off your bum and doing something about it doesn't always follow like it should. So here's a little (and slightly preachy) reminder!!

Three things I'd like you all to do before you go to bed tonight (if you haven't already)

1/ Go here and sign the C4EM's petition for marriage equality. This is the simplest and probably most visible way to show your support. It currently has 60,000 signatures -- the petition against (by C4M) has over 500,000!!!

2/ Go here and fill out the government's consultation. It might take a little bit longer, but you can bet that for every pro-person who doesn't find the time, there will be dozens of 'anti' people who will.

3/ Email your MP. There's a handy template there for you to use so you don't even have to think of what to say. Also, you can go here to see where your MP stands on the issue. A hugely important thing to do because the majority of MPs will be voting with their conscience rather than following the party line, so make sure you let yours know your feelings.

4/ Okay, so I lied. There's actually a fourth thing. And that is simply spread the word. The consultation ends in two day - it's our last chance to get as many people mobilised as possible. So tweet it, Facebook, blog it, beat your friends and family around the head with it until they give in!!! And if you want to repost to your own journal (and please feel free to edit), here's an ever-so helpful button

This is a compilation of Television series I’ve watched since my early childhood days! It’s inspirited by the “100 TV Shows”-meme some people on my friends list have done or are doing!

You can find it under the cut!

Side note: I loved and/or still love many of these shows dearly, but nothing can hold a candle to House M.D., my alltime favourite show. I was never as sad about the end of a series then I am about the end of House M.D.. Without this show I probably wouldn’t have found my way into the Internet fandom and therefore into LiveJournal.

CISPA would give the government and corporations vast new powers to track and share data about Americans’ Internet use.

But our hundreds of thousands of emails and tens of thousands of phone calls have had a real impact:

Amendments were adopted that made CISPA (marginally) better.

Earlier this month CISPA was supposed to sail through, but we helped foment opposition, and the vote was far closer than anybody could have imagined even a couple of weeks ago.

Most Democrats held firm in opposition, and more than two dozen libertarian-leaning Republicans defied their leadership and voted no.

Most importantly, President Obama has threatened to veto CISPA.

***Additionally, CISPA would destabilize the internet inviting cyber attacks and increasing the amount of identity theft.***

The Senate will consider cyber security legislation in the coming weeks. Let’s turn up the heat right away: Tell the Senate to reject CISPA and any and all legislation that doesn’t respect privacy and civil liberties.
Add your name at right to tell the Senate to reject cyber security legislation that doesn’t respect privacy.

Join us in standing up for reproductive health and education. Planned Parenthood, the organization that delivers reproductive health care, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide, has come under fire in the U.S. lately, with many politicians on both state and federal level seeking to end funding (and in a few cases succeeding).

During the month of May, you can send a specially designed Planned Parenthood vgift to your friends to help support this cause. (And if you need someone to send it to, [livejournal.com profile] frank is always happy to receive gifts!) There are three variations ($1, $5 and $10) for you to choose from, but they'd all look good on your profile when your friends know that you stand by something so important.

Thank you all for your help in our support for Planned Parenthood. This promotion ends June 1, 2012; LiveJournal is not affiliated with Parent Parenthood. For more information about Planned Parenthood, please visit: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Here's their next move: The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, or CISPA, would obliterate any semblance of online privacy in the United States.

And CISPA would provide a victory for content owners who were shell-shocked by the unprecedented outpouring of activism in opposition to SOPA and Internet censorship.

The House of Representatives is planning to take up CISPA later this month. Click here to ask your lawmakers to oppose it.

SOPA was pushed as a remedy to the supposed economic threat of online piracy -- but economic fear-mongering didn't quite do the trick.

So those concerned about copyright are engaging in sleight of hand, appending their legislation to a bill that most Americans will assume is about keeping them safe from bad guys.

This so-called cyber security bill aims to prevent theft of "government information" and "intellectual property" and could let ISPs block your access to websites -- or the whole Internet.

Don't let them push this back-door SOPA. Click here to demand that your lawmakers oppose CISPA.

CISPA also encourages companies to share information about you with the government and other corporations.

That data could then be used for just about anything -- from prosecuting crimes to ad placements.

And perhaps worst of all, CISPA supercedes all other online privacy protections.

Please click here to urge your lawmakers to oppose CISPA when it comes up for a vote this month.

Thanks for fighting for the Internet.

Hugh Laurie confirms between the lines that Stacy is House´s love of his life, because he says in this video  http://videos.hugh-laurie.us/housemd/interviews-house-md/fox5-good-day-atalanta-videochat-with-hugh-laurie-20042005/  that Sela Ward played House´s love of his life. Seriously. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK WORLD.

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history
  • Read letters from U.S. Senator Ron Wyden wherein he challenges the constitutionality of ACTA: Letter 1 | Letter 2 | Read the Administration’s Response to Wyden’s First Letter here: Response
  • Watch a short informative video on ACTA: ACTA Video
  • Watch a lulzy video on ACTA: Lulzy Video

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.
